I bought two mate, each one from a different seller. The one i bought from Hong Kong actually had a better antenna inside the fin than the one i bought from an english seller.I tried them both and found the hong kong one worked best so fitted that.Local radio stations it is spot on just lke the OE aerial, national stations it suffers abit where where i live but thats because im right by the bloody sea and france lol.Godderz23 wrote:What's the reception like on them Bradley? Cheers Guys
Can't wait for the shows next year, I will deffo be attending some this time.
I got my sharkfin from some dude off ebay based in the USA, it wont be fitted for a while because I want to get my roof vinyl'd first. For £10 I didnt think it was a gamble really, I have had a stubby aerial fitted for about 12 months and the reception on that is pretty average although I do live right in the sticks so its probably to be expected.

Loving the purchases!
I just bought two of those towels, they're nice.
Me and a mate shared an order (to get free delivery) and he just bought some of those buckets and grit guards, jealous of the blue
(mine are black)

Re: Ben's Polo GTI - Vinyl Wrapped BMC CDA :) Page 11
New Update - 08/10/2010
Small update everyone to my Gti
Despite buying Pro Evo 2011 today I decided to Vinyl Wrap my BMC CDA when I got home from work instead
I bought some Chrome Vinyl Wrap because I really want to tidy up my scabby looking engine bay, spent a few hours last night cleaning up the plastics & pipes with some de-greaser but as my vinyl wrap was delivered today I thought I might as well get cracking.
As you can see my horrible scabby rocker cover needs a respray ASAP as does my Manifold heat shield.
Anyway first of all I started with taking off the air feed and then moved onto the throttle body 90 degree elbow pipe.

Got the BMC off and cleaned it up first as it was a little dusty, there were quite a few dried up leaves and dead flies inside the filter too which I cleaned completely (with the aid of a vacuum cleaner). The BMC CDA has 4 small philips screws on either end and they are literally a b***tards to get out! especially if you dont have the right size screw driver.

Managed to get them out in the end though without shredding anyway of them and once they are out its just a case of removing both caps on either end and sliding off the cylinder unit.

If you have a BMC then you'll know they have a Rectangle tin plate on the unit and a a silver sticker.
My tin plate fell off the other day when wiping it down so I left that off and vinyl'd straight over the other sticker.

The Vinyl was really sticky and went on a treat
I used two A4 sheets because I couldnt be bothered buying a whole roll of the stuff, you do need both sheets to cover it completely and because it sticks so well its very hard to see the join of both sheets. I cut the excess vinyl off using a Stanley blade

Once on its just a case of putting everything back together.
If you attempt this yourself just be careful when putting the screws back in the BMC because they are very tight and its easy to slip off the screwdriver if you apply too much pressure.
When the caps are back on with the screws in it's just time to put it back on the car then.

Just started to pour down as I finished putting it back on!
What does everybody think then? I think it looks smart and only cost me £2 to do
very Blue Peter style
I bought some Chrome paint and Plastic Primer the other day to sort a few of the plastic engine parts.
I wont tell you what i'm spraying yet but another update will follow shortly
I am also buying some Aluminium Pipes from Hong Kong for my custom made Aluminium Intake pipe, once I have put it together I will make a DIY Guide because I think it will look immense if done properly.
Keep your eyes peeled for more updates soon

Cheers Dude
I had Fifa 2010 & Pro Evo 2010 and thought Pro Evo edged it on playability
Evo 2011 is gash though just been on it for 2 hours and i'm not impressed at all, step backwards if anything lol

Yeah I have been loyal to the Pro Evo series for years but not impressed at all with the new one, they have tried to make it too realisitic and ruined the whole format, I might have to trade it in for Fifa 2011Godderz23 wrote:Gutted. Looks interesting Ben, not sure it's my cup of tea but I think it should look pretty cool when you get all the other shiny bits in the engine bay you mentioned
PS. Is that centre caps I see?

Yeah my plan will come together alot more when I get the other parts sprayed up/fitted.
I came to the conclusion that the carbon fibre BMC wouldnt tie in with anything else under the hood so decided to go mental with chrome
I have just sent you a PM with the centre cap Pics

Yeah hopefully it will all come together when I get the intake sorted and get spraying some of the plastics.
Rocker cover and the manifold heat shield both need doing too

Update 17/11/2010
Just a small update to the Polo this time because I havent done much to it lately.
I wanted to change something to the front of the car because I was getting a little bored with how it looked and as I had a spare VW badge I thought I would get that sprayed Matt Black.
I took the badge to pieces and had the front sand blasted to remove all the silver top coat.
Got some primer put on there and then coated it with 3 layers of Matt Black paint.
I really like how it looks and it breaks up the front nicely so i'm pretty pleased

I saw a Silver 6N2 for sale on Pistonheads with smoothed bumpers and a Jap style front plate which has got me tempted to copy that look
They are 20 euro's for a Jap Pressed Front plate so I might get one for a trial basis and see how it looks.
I would position it by the n/s foglight (not covering it). What do you guys think of that????
More updates to follow soon.......probably
