Confused about the lights in my 1.9 tdi 52 reg

Hi there.

So I'm wanting to change the lights in my car.

I want to put HID's and LED's in the lights (white ones)

so I know I need 501's for the sidelights. but then there is another bulb in the enclosure were the sidelight bulb is and I believe that is the main beam? so what bulb do I need to change in there?

what bulbs do I need for the fog lights?

& then I'll be fitting white HID kit in the bigger headlight enclosure. think I'm going to have to mount the ballasts to the bumper crash bar, unless anyone has any better ideas??

I want to do the same. Dont have a cllue about the Main beam and Fog bulbs.
I'm assuming the Headlights are just H7, but dont quote me on that.

According to Auto Bulbs Direct, the dipped beam is H7 and the main beam is H1. I haven't got a clue about the front fogs though, sorry mate.

Yes, thats the main beams.

u need H7 bulb as ur main and 501 as your side the other light you see is your foglight which is a h1

you can mount the ballast to the inner wing they have holes there just slip a bolt and nut through really easy. ive done it on my 1.9 tdi and many others.

Can't remember where I read it, but someone said something about HID's and LEDs not mixing, something about the LED's melting?
Are the fogs definatly H1? Want some LED or similar fogs

im not sure which fogs your talking about im guessing the ones in the bumper. im talking about the flash you have in the headlight

Well you mentioned the fogs were h1 as well as the full beam.
Just curious about putting LED Bulbs in the fogs, because tbh, I've always managed without fogs anyway, and I cant imagine the LED replacement bulbs being AS bright.
Just wandering if anyone has hear of issues using HIDs in the dipped beams and LED's alsewhere. If you followed that
