Help! DIY panel filter install

Post by davestokes »

Hey guys, I've searched around but can't find a how-to on this. What is involved in replacing the air filter on the 6N2? I've bought myself a Pipercross panel filter but I'm not sure how to get the engine cover off! Do I even have to take it off?

Also, the small hose that attaches to the air box in the top-left corner - what does it do? I was poking around and found that mine wasn't even attached!

Thanks

Hey dave welcome to the forum matey.

First off to remove the engine cover you need to undo the four 5mm allen key bolts on the top of it.Once you've done this you can simply pull it off it's clips and place it to one side.

You should now have access to airbox.Start by removing the screws holding the lid on with a phillips screw driver.Be careful not to lose any of them as they have a habbit to fall into the engine bay haha. One they're all undone you can remove the lid and you'll see the existing panel filter.Take this out and give the box a hoover if there is alot of dirt in there.Whilst you've got it off it may be worth cleaning the throttle body with some injector or carb cleaner.Place new filter in and repeat the removal process and that should be job done.

The black pipe is the crank case breather,i'd reccomend refitting it mate for sure unless you want to put a small filter on the end of it and blank the hole in the airbox.

Hope that helps.
