Could be the exhaust bracket mate, I had the exact same problem for months and it just turned out to be a loose bracket right by the CAT. Mine just needed welding but sometimes they do need to be replaced.nigelelliott394 wrote:The GTI is backWhat a difference that has made... the clutch is so much lighter and the gearbox oil has made gear changes so much smoother. I also got the coolant temperature sensor changed while It was in just to get rid of that annoying fault. The car is running well....
...HOWEVER, i STILL have a weird grinding noise coming from the gearbox area. It can only be heard from inside the car. I thought the change of oil would fix that but the noise still remains. It's not really affecting anything at the minute, it's just a noise and it can be heard most under acceleration and deceleration. Goes away whenever I dip the clutch. Any ideas?
Mine was more noticeable in 1st and 2nd both accelerating and decelerating, couldnt really hear it in 3rd or 4th due to the speed.
