wheel refurb advice

Post by bradley1983 »

I have been in to my mates garage about getting my wheels painted and he has told me not to split them and paint single.

He said to split to clean but paint with the wheels all in one piece as this will not leave a lip and inbetween the wheel and rim. He said by doing this water will not sit and this will stop the corriosion issue. (he sprays astons and lambos)

What do you think?

Its up to you matey.Probably the most future proof way of doing it would be to split the wheels and have the centres re sprayed, then have the outer lip stripped to remove all of the old peeling lacquer then have them repolished and left with no lacquer on.

That way there is no lacquer to peel off in the future and the water siting there won't be a problem.Id reccomend putting some clear silicone between the two peices as you put them back together for good measure.

Your mate is right but they never look half as good painted all one colour.

I fully agree.

I want to pilish mine but don't have the time or spare wheels to do it.

Either find some wheels or face the worst and go without a car for however long it takes.

A body shop turned mine around in 2 days so see what your mate can do.

It was a quick fix to sell them with no cost or effort.

The looked smart, carbon fibre lip.
