i own a vw polo mk4, and thinking of changing the standard/original gearknob, but do know know how its done, how do i unscrew it?

and another thing, im wanting to debadge the read section of my polo, this includes the engine size and 'POLO' how do i do this professionally without leaving scratches or marks?

Usually the gear knob just unscrews. Also, a similar topic on debadging is in the Mark 3 forum, I think the principles should be the same.
