My fuel gauge seems to take much longer to get from full to half-full than it does to get from half-full to empty.
It's not the biggest problem in the world, but does anyone know what the issue might be?
Strange Fuel Gauge
Re: Strange Fuel Gauge
Hey BobbyG,
My gti does the exact same thing.
I always fill my tank to the top at the beginning of the month then keep it topped up above half as it does last longer. I dread the end of the month when petrol money has run out and I watch the petrol drop so quickly.

How odd!
As I said it's not the most pressing issue in the world, just a bit irritating!
On a more positive note my passenger window randomly started working again yesterday after nearly a year of inactivity. I drowned the motor housing in WD40 a month or so ago, it must have worked it's magic!

Re: Strange Fuel Gauge
Same could be said for almost any fuel gauge really... at least in any car I've ever driven. Once you're past the half way mark the needle sinks like a stone.

Seems to be the same in every car I have known
Its got something to do with how the Fuel Sender operates differently when the fuel level drops.
The gauges are never that accurate anyway, its like when you fill your car and it goes beyond "full" on the gauge and the same can happen when it gets low.
Re: Strange Fuel Gauge
I can't believe I've ever noticed this in any other car before!
Cheers for the help
