Looks on Par Perkins.I do like the MK3's when they're looking their best.The RA's have come out very well,finish the car off with the retro look nicely.

Need another meet in the summer to get some pictures of our cars.

Thought it only right to put a 'Winter Works' post up lol

So this winter the following needs doing to the GTI:

Brake calipers cleaning and paint
Rear drivers shock absorber needs looking at as its making odd squeaks
Possible RX2 refurbishment....maybe
Full detail with a thorough interior clean
*possible* front end respray (though this may have to wait till the weather improves...not sure on this yet)
Fix the clutch release bearing or whatever it is thats causing me clutch problems
Re align steering wheel at some point
Check all underseal is intact and repaint if needed

So yes, a few things that are on the list. My workshop is now fully insulated, so I can work in the cold now as I have heating too

Mine needs most of this too...

I also had the same clutch Issue as you, and it got worse in the wet weather.. But I went out for a 'spirited' drive and it seems to have rectified itself? Clutch (Sachs) and cable (VAG) have both done less than 4k too which is the strange thing.

Well a little update....

Have some samples of the new 3M Paint Protection Film on the way. Im going to try them on the bonnet to see if it will cover up the acid damage and make it look better! Im hopeful it will work, so ill upload some pictures of the sample film when it warms up enough for me to stick it on successfully!

As for other work, I havent had any time to look into stuff atm as I'm so busy with work and other commitments.

I hope to get the brakes off sometime soon and get them sandblasted to get them ready for painting

Look forward to seeing how you get on with the paint protection film Alex, be nice to see some pics once it’s fitted.

If it is successful then I would consider doing the full front end bar the wings because I’m stick of persistent stone chips.

Good choice with getting the 3G stuff. When I get my bumper and bonnet resprayed I'm deff getting it covered with it
It's held up brilliantly on my headlights completly invisible and fantastic protection!

Do you polish it first and then apply the film?

Well there is an ongoing debate about that. Some people say wax and polish it first, and others say strip it clean and polish and wax the film after. Ive got a few samples so Im going to try both ways to see what happens
