Boot Open Dash Light On

Driving home earlier tonight and a light on my dash starts flickering up. At first I thought I was just imagining it.
Turns out it was the boot open light was really pail and flickering really quickly. After a while I drove over a pot hole and it stuck on for a few miles until it started flickering again. I was quite suprised as i havnt opened the boot for a while. Got home. Got out. And open and slammed the boot. Light went off. Went out later and light came straight back on. Open and shut boot, and it stayed on. :S apparently it happened last year in the cold.
Anyone know what's causing it?

The microswitch in the boot lock has got corrosion in it - its a common fault. Part is about 8 quid from the VW dealer

Mine was doing that. After some investigation the rear washer has come off in the boot and soaked the switch. Well worth checking as its when its this cold it happens!

Cheers guys. It's not come back on since but I shall deft look into seeing if my rear washer is leaking. That's attualy been playing up for a bit in a number of ways so maybe that's a reason!
