Cool keep me updated dude.
I will most likely be going for a full respray next year so i'll be looking to get the front end wrapped up in film provided its good stuff.

Hi Alex,
Loving what you have done with the car. I see you have a Scorpion Exhaust system. Looks very nice. Are you pleased with it? I am thinking of getting one. Is it noticeably louder/more powerful than the standard? And also is it a cat back system?
Thanks, Matt

Cheers mate
Indeed I do. Yes - its a bit loud at 70, but move up to 80/90 and its much more bearable
Aye it does make the engine flow better, and yes its a catback. Larger bore than the existing system too for extra performance

Sorry to keep pestering you alex but is it easy to fit? I mean does it just bolt straight in or is there some welding needed?
Cheers, Matt

Its a straight swap, though it does take a while to get it positioned correctly so it doesnt vibrate on the heatshield on bumps

Thanks mate, sounds good. Do you think it would be worth cutting some of the rear bumper out so it fits in nicely? Don't really like the sound of taking a saw to the car but if it would look better i guess i would do it .

The box is too big for the bumper to be profiled - I wouldn't worry about it tbf

Ive given up trying to fix it for now. Its something to do with the selector sleeve in the gearbox. When i changed a clutch a few weeks back, I had a good look and worked out what it would be that causes it

Re: The GTI! - Alex's Progress Thread - Big news....
Well, I have some big news
The two and a half years that I have owned the Polo GTI have been absolutely fantastic, but the time has come when I feel the need to move onto bigger and better things.
The bad news is I will no longer be driving the GTI, however its not going anywhere- the good news is that Greg (brother) will be taking it on next year so it'll be kept snug and maintained till then. Though on the downside, I have to sell the Mk3 Genesis to keep funds in order - which is a shame as its such a classic, but these things sometimes have to be done.
Its been a great experience with everyone on here, and I will of course stay an active member of the forum as its a great community to be part of.
So... onto the replacement!

VW Mk5 Golf GTI Edition 30
Its got almost every spec option ticked with sat nav, DSG, parking sensors, privacy glass, cruise control....the list is endless!
Will be picking it up this weekend coming!
So yes...rather excited indeed
