Lowering springs/coilovers for 9N 1.4 16v

I was just looking at some lowering springs, but then thought, i may aswell get coilies. i seen alot of cars here lowered with 50mm springs/coilies, which look really nice, but are there any drawbacks to this? or shall i just stick to 35mm springs? without having to do any archwork or ARB and driveshaft rubbing.... so yeah, whats a sensible height to go for with 17" alloys?

polos dont need any extra arch work all you need is a set of collies and some drop links if that buy a cheap set off ebay there good enuff for a 1.4 and if they go really low you buy mondeo drop links for 9 pound each

aaah i see, well my budget is £150, but i can stretch to around £200. The thing is the lowest i wanna go is around 40-50mm, so im not sure whether i will actually need coilovers. ive seen a few JOM coilovers on ebay within my budget.
Bit silly of me to ask this, but will i need drop-links? if so, may i ask why?

People say u do but I have dropped my car 120mm n not needed to change them so it's only if the make noise after lowering it. Maybe cos I got ap which are £400 me bro had cheap eBay coilovers and the shocks went after 6 months my advise save for some better ones
