Leather looks great lifts the interior quality but it's not all good as the seats get too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter (listen to me, sound like a right whinger) that's why I think half leather is the best.

Agreed about the half leather being a good option. That's why we went with the Alcantara option on our 1.2TSI (we had full leather in our previous car). Shame Alcantara isn't at least an option on the GTI whose interior is enough to put me off buying one.

Isn't that blasphemy!? Well here's a tip for you when you buy a GTI, you can't see the seats when you are sitting in them :D

True enough, but you can see them as you get in! Nasty ;)

Carol - isn't that like finding your dream house and not buying it because it doesn't have a leather sofa??

Alex.

No, not really. At least when you're buying a house you put your own stuff into it (sofa, bed, wardrobe etc), so if what's there when you're looking to buy it doesn't please you, so what? When you buy a car, you get the whole package as one, and if you're lucky enough to be able to buy it brand new and can afford the extras, then it should look and do exactly what you want. Each to their own though, and if I was in the market for a GTI, I'd probably suck up the interior regardless. I just find the fact that VW (and other manufacturers) dictate what you have to like because that's what they say you should.

It's one of my personal bugbears that just because a car is small, manufacturers seem to think that people don't want it to look nice inside (especial note to Ford: if I wanted to spend several thousand pounds on a new Fiesta, I most certainly wouldn't want to be sold it on the concept that the interior is styled around a crappy £100 Nokia from about 3 years ago).

GTI = Loud seats. I really like them it's what helps define the GTI brand and it just adds to the appeal and just reminds you of the lineage and 34 years of history.

Totally!

I was sat in the back of a car with leather in the other day. When the driver went around roundabouts I uncontrolably sliding from side to side (it was a shogun so the seats thrmselves are quite big, and the seatbelts not so tight around me)
I also somehow managed to slip backwards into the car when trying to get out lol

I like half leather half cloth to. Best of both worlds.

4x4's comedy cars! I am going to admit to having owned a Range Rover  in the past and it was the worst car I have ever had. Had it when my children were young as I thought I needed the space but it turns out that it was a luxury van, handled like a super tanker. Never ever again!
