Hi,
My clutch started slipping last week and I've just had a quote for a new clutch at £535.00 + £400 (£935 in total) if a new dual mass flywheel is required. However, he couldn't tell me if there would be a dual mass fly wheel or not until he opened the gearbox up. Is this correct? Is this a reasonable price? The car is remapped (to ~130), and its a 53 plate 1.9TDI PD100 sport.
Help will be appreciated. Thanks guys.

i had to have my clutch and dual mass flywheel changed on mine and i payed £600 for everything fitted, yours will have a dual mass flywheel as its the same engine as mine

Thanks dsw88.
I've just rung around and found an independent VW specialist who roughly said it would be £600 all in (flywheel included). He said he would get back to me with a full quote early next week.
I'm glad I didn't go for the first quote.
Does anyone know how much clutch life is affected by the extra power?

Re: 9n 1.9 TDI Clutch
Isn't the DMF a pain in the ass on these cars? I've heard people put single mass flywheels on if they get replaced but I don't know if that's applicable to the 1.9TDI. Might be worth checking out.
(They tend to be a pain because the springs connecting the two masses get weak and the car ends up vibrating on tickover and hard acceleration, I think)......

if your remapped dont bother with the dual mass. i have a 1.9tdi 9n3, the clutch was fine even when remapped but the flywheel was playing around sometimes so i changed them both but opted for a solid mass conversion as they dont have any play in them so wont really go again if they do it ll just be your clutch. theres plenty of conversion kits about. mines remapped and has a PD130 turbo and intercooler and still the clutch is fine.

Single mass mate bit noisier but no dual mass problems. Better engine braking I have one mate
