Ahh ok.. that's not so bad then :)

Just got a call from the place doing the gearbox. They got it stripped down this afternoon and I've been quoted £440 for a full refurbishment.

£440 is a decent price mate, is that with removal & re-fitting labour included?

Few parts are on back order for the gearbox apparently which is holding the whole thing up but not to worry... at least it'll be done right. Plus, means I've got more time to save up a bit of money and purchase some more parts for when it comes back...

Like this....

Good Stuff :)
Mine has been massively delayed because GSF have messed me about with the delivery of my Sach clutch.
I'm hoping to have mine back on Friday

What are you driving at the moment then? No Smoke No Poke as Diesel drivers say 8)

Driving the 6n2 1.9D I used to own before the GTI... my dad now keeps it for running about in (he has a work car).

64bhp and about 90lb/ft torque. :(

Ahrite your in the Poslow then at the moment :) Its a tidy Silver 6N2 right?
Least its saving you some money on Fuel, although the lack of power must be hard getting used to.

Its easy mate, even i managed it.

Underneath your standard gaitor it a little section that clips into the bottom of the handbrake to stop it sliding forwards and backwards. If you look on the underneath of your new one you'll see what i mean.

Get a tiny screwdriver and bend the tab out and the old gaitor will just slide off.

Also keep your original chrome button, the 9n3 one is to big. :)

No Probs mate... the delivery was ridiculously quick on mine. Proper next day delivery.. that's usually unlikely to NI.

Have you fitted it yet buddy?.

I trimmed the bottom of mine (the area that sits in the handbrake trim) the same as the origional and found it worked a whole lot better.

Not fitted yet Brad but I have the chrome button removed. Is the bottom much different/is it necessary to trim it? (BTW, apologies for hijacking your thread)

Still waiting on the car to come back from getting it's gearbox refurbished so it won't be fitted until then.
