Overheating HELP!

Hi, I changed my air filter this morning and now my car is overheating!!!

Why?? I need to go somewhere very soon!

N.B - I also cleaned the throttle body with carb cleaner....

Are the fans coming on at all?

I think that is the condenser unit kicking in, when you say only when i put the air con on. Make sure that you can see the large electric fan turn on when its getting hot with the air con off.

Also what's your coolant level like? Do you have to keep topping it up all the time?

Had the AA out yesterday, apparently my thermostat was broken therefore my radiator was stone cold and all of the engine heat was being kept inside the block.

I've now had the thermostat taken out completely, I'll have a new one put in next week. My radiator now gets hot at least....just takes a wee while!

The thermostat was probably broken for ages but only came to a head when I had the car idling for ages whilst cleaning the throttle body.
