Sorry to hear about the issues, hope you get this sorted Ben. Just think though, once it's done it's one less thing to worry about... then you'll be able to get the cams done

Cheers Nigel :)

Once its all sorted it will be a big weight off my mind but I think i'll be parting company with the Polo in the next few months. I had to cancel the cams deposit with JBS to get the gearbox work done so everything has been put on hold for the time being. I can't afford to throw anymore cash at the Polo for it to only going wrong again.

I do love the Polo to bits but it has become a bit of a money pit lately and I have just become a bit fed up with it.
My next car will be a Honda Civic Type R EP3 so the Polo will be going up for sale in around June/July time, not quite sure what its worth but i'll try and get decent money for it.

The Civic ticks all the boxes really, its quick, good looking, handles amazing, fun to drive and sounds awesome.
Obviously the Type R's are not that well kitted out with creature comforts but lets face it, the more gadgets on a car just basically means that there are more things to go wrong.

Ben,
I know exactly how u feel dude. I've had it a few times with mine. Think its because its a 10 year old car, but looks and feels much newer, so you expect less problems.

I looked into Type R's recently, very nice cars, and priced fairly well nowadays. Wanted a Milano Red one, but they tend to turn "pinky" after a while!

Still plenty of time to research them and fine a nice example. :)

Ohm! What did you say to me the other day? Something along the lines of I'm a VW lad, not a Jap lad :P

To be honest, I don't blame you for wanting sell up, I've been there done that plenty of times but I just can't part with mine.

Yeah spot on mate, its not an easy decision to sell up and I do love the Polo but there comes a time in every ownership when you want a change.
I actually want a Milano Red Type R too lol :) The paint will need more attention than the greys & silvers but having a black car i'm already used to that.

They are about 6.5-7K for a good low mileage EP3 (facelift)

Yeah that Type R meet didnt do me any favours, ever since then I cant stopping thinking about getting one.
I have been tempted plenty of times in the past mainly by the Audi S3 or 9N3 GTI but this time it really has to go, shame I couldnt take it as far as I wanted to but I dont really want to spend anymore on it.

I think I will find it pretty difficult to get bored of an EP3 Brad, they just seem so fun to drive and that VTEC engine note really is something else.
In the past I was looking at Ibiza Cupra's 1.8T and the Audi S3 which are both quick, but this time I want something thats basic and fast. When you get inside one its clear to see its all about performance, its not a comfy cruiser, the sound proofing is terrible and it looks very cheap but thats what I want.

S3's are lovely inside, awesome interior thats really well laid out and they have every extra you could wish for but I just want something that's quick and basic.

My mate has one at the moment and I wasnt expecting much from it but it shocked me how fast it gets to 60 and the handling is superb.

Yeah it will be a sad day when I hand over the keys but I think having a Type R will heal the pain :)

I think you could be right reference the Recaro's they look very similar, i'm after the later EP3's (facelift model) which was 04-06.
I'll deffo be sticking around on the forum mate, the GTI certainly wont be the last Polo I ever own.

No worries reference the OMP mate your welcome to it :)

Are you selling up too then mate? or keeping the GTI and getting an S2000

I'm after an 05 plate EP3 mate, facelift model in Milano Red 8) they look good in every colour though in fairness

Gruppe M induction Kit with Spoon B Pipe is enough to make them sound amazing

Fair choice on the car Ben. Will be sad to see you leave the Polo scene, but I can't really talk 8)

Type Rs are good fun. My polo GTI used to give them a right run for their money :D but my golf eats them for breakfast lol

Yeah it will be a sad day when it finally goes but i'm certainly going stick around on here :D still love VAG cars, just wanted some different this time.

If your GTI was giving them a run for their money then they clearly were not trying :) , believe me the Type R's will blow away a 6N2 with ease.

The ED30 is down as 0-60 in 6.6, Type R is 6.2 hehe 8)

Polo gives them a good run...never said it was faster :P Either not trying, or had engine trouble lol

ED30 DSG is 6.4ish

When its mapped stage 1 itll be more like 5.8 :D

I had the EP3 Type R down for 6.8?

Ep3 Honda vtec ftw, eats everything without a turbo and like said with a turbo.

Remapped spoon and mugen accessory will again eat an ed30 even after a map. Honda all the way....

Silly powerful engines and yeah the noise, dribble dribble. I will soon join the tec crew ha..
