Re: Ben's Polo GTI - EP3 Type R will replace the GTI
They are both quick bottom line, a standard ED30 probably is quicker in a straight line race to 100mph because of the superior torque (turbo).
EP3 Type R is 0-60 in 6.2 but 0-62 in 6.5 so they are very quick and will no doubt out handle a Golf because they have a brilliant chassis and are very nimble.
S200 is 0-60 in 5.5ish as standard which is unbelievable for a N/A engine.
Both great cars, I would never knock the Golf GTI they are brilliant cars but the Type R shouldn’t be underestimated either.
Honda's are focused simply on performance whereas VW Cater for performance, styling and comfort which is why the Honda's are half the price.

Well said Ben.
Quality ride comfort over power I guess

They remind me of the Polo engine wise.Fun at first but then you wish you had that little bit more that why i think you may get alittle bored. My friend had one and i must admit it was loud, his was stripped out apart from the front two seats you could hear everything. The handling definately out performs alot of cars through the bends especially with a uprated rear anti roll bar, but the severe lack of torque does let them down.He had a full Spoon exhaust,AEM cold air feed and a K-Pro ECU will a full custom map at that was pretty rapid around 230ish BHP again the torque was improved alittle.
What year are you looking at getting the origional or the slightly later with a few updates like indicaters in the mirrors & Projector headlights?.

I understand completely what your saying Bradley, some very good points made there and I cant really disagree at all.Bradley wrote:They remind me of the Polo engine wise.Fun at first but then you wish you had that little bit more that why i think you may get alittle bored.

I think the difference with the Type R is that because its soo quick as standard there isnt a great deal you can do to improve it greatly, I have seen people achieve 240+ bhp with exhaust systems, inlet & exhaust manifolds, ECU upgrades and Induction systems which does make it even quicker and then ofcourse the supercharger lads that get over 300bhp. I think there is a point where you are satisfied with a cars power though, especially if its your daily driver and you have to take into account insurance, fuel & maintenance costs. The Polo feels quick enough when your putting it through its paces but the gearbox issue has always been in the back of my mind so I have never really driven it hard very often, just the odd blast every now and then. The Polo is too nice to be thrashing about, its more of a crusier and a head turner.
I think with the Type R you have more assurance because the engine & gearbox combo are brilliant, they really can take a hammering and even with the most extreme driving very rarely go wrong.
The Model i'm after is the EP3 Facelift model which had the gearbox syncro problem in 2nd resolved.
So basically a 54-06 plate model in Milano red with hopefully lowish mileage.
Japanese cars are never going to be as refined as a German car and I completely accept that, the attention to detail and overall build quality of your VW's & Audi's is sublime. The Type R's are noisy, very basic and not very refined but its a car purely built for performance more than anything else. As I mentioned before VW's focus on all aspects and combine them together whereas with your Honda's its all about performance.

That sounds crazy mate, bit too extreme for me lolTrottagti wrote:https://www.youtube*.com/watch?v=dSQFxGV7 ... ata_player
Gruppe M Induction Kit & Supersprint/Spoon B Pipe would be enough for me

That video is 100% standard lol.
No speeded up video at all it's on throttle bodies and has a £1500 exhaust system on it called f1 spoon.
Not speeded up fakes at all, pure tec power....
