Obviously you will get a slightly biased opinion posting a Q like that :P

However after selling my Gti last August i was constantly looking through old pictures and wishing i still had it . My Leon cupra r just didnt have the same character and wasent as fun to live with- despite the Gti's problems. Hence why i bought my THIRD Gti last friday

So had a pretty eventful afternoon yesterday. Finished early from work so went down to my mechanic to see if i could get some fault codes etc.

Plugged it in and couldn't get it to talk to the engine. Tried time after time to no joy. Got it to talk to the abs ecu but not the engine.

Took off the clocks/speedo gauges to see if i could find where this relay was put it to bring the abs light on and off expecting it to be just behind there but couldn't locate it anywhere. Traced it all the way back to the abs ecu itself. So i guess they must have done something in there!! Unpluged the ecu and pluggged it back in and now the abs light stays on permanently. :?

So yeah.....

First thing i'd try is to disconnect the battery for an hour or so, give it another scan. Has worked in the past for me on a few occasions. What fault code is the ABS throwing up?

It showed 2. One was a front sensor and the other was the abs ecu. Not sure on the exact numbers though.

Tried disconnecting the battery for about 10 minutes which didn't change anything. Just read the topic about peoples abs problems. Might try cleaning all the fuses and disconnect for longer and see what happens. :(
