I've been considering doing this as well.

From what I've read, the best option is to plastic weld small strips of plastic into the recesses and smooth to the profile using fibre-glass or body filler. I think body filler used on it's own has the tendency to sag over time. I'm pretty sure I've heard of people fibre-glassing directly over, but this doesn't flex in the same manner as the bumper, so any small ding = expensive repair job.

I've been considering doing this for a while, I think I'm going to get it professionally plastic welded. Anyone know of anywhere in Aberdeen or the surrounding area which would offer this service?

Plastic welding is the best method because its strong and will last for years.
If your going to use filler then use the fibre-glass stuff because your bog standard car filler isnt really strong enough.

If a stone jumps up and hits the filled recess its likely to dent or crack the filler

Got mine done nearly 2 years ago, I love the look of smoothed bumpers :)

I would take it somewhere mate, I work in a bodyshop and u need to Plastic fill the recess.

I would plastic repair bondo it up and then skim with filler not fibre glass filler as fibre glass filler is for use on fibre glass hence the name....

Filler won't sink back like the fibres on the fibre glass will...

Iv done a few now and iv had no worries. U obviously need very good products to get a good result, won't be much to have done in a bodyshop mate if you take the bumpers off and remove all the bits....

U doing the bumpers only???
