Leather Gear Gaitor

Post by wildman_33 »

The gaitor for my gear stick is very worn and I would like to replace it. My car did not come with the leather steering wheel and gear gaitor option although i would like to get the proper leather vw gear gaitor rather than the pretend leather one i have now. Does anyone know the part number for it because if i go in to the dealers and ask for it without the part number they wont be able to find it under my car because it does not have the option as standard

Mine is a sport but doesnt have the leather trimmed steering wheel and i think if you chose the leather trimmed steering wheel you got a different gear gaitor too. My current gear gaitor doesnt look like its real leather and where it has worn out it doesnt look like leather at all.

Got a new one from that well know Auction site. Not genuine VW, but certainly looks good and is definitely leather

The bloke at your dealer parts department should be able to find it on the database. So long as you go when there isn't a massive queue and say you want a leather gear gaiter for a Polo Sport I'm sure they'll be able to sort you out.

I also bought a leather gear gator the same as above, my old one was shagged! Only thing is when your fitting them start by taking the bottom off and get the square plastic from off the old leather and when you lift the leather up, reshape the gold ring under the gear knob to get the knob off. When you replace the old knob you can reshape the gold ring to hold the gearknob back in place
