Re: Ben's Polo GTI - EP3 Type R will replace the GTI
This guy is on the s2000 I'm on he's in America and its an old thread and trust me it's not speeded up and that's a cough on an outside camera... Record a cough outside on the road n you will see.... Lol.
If it was speeded up the road would fly by with that sound.....
When he spins the car around it makes the same pitch and noise and doesn't speed up...
I'd put my car onit not being speeded up lol...

Same noise and exhaust system, not speeded up.

Re: Ben's Polo GTI - Recon Gearbox & Sach Clutch now fitted!
Update - 20/03/2011
Got the car back on Wednesday after being without it for 4 weeks, the new box is in after several delays / problems from 1st gear transmissions. The new box feels great and seems better than the original box, the ratio's are better on the recon box so i'm pretty happy. The Sach Clutch felt too light at first but i'm slowly getting used to it after a couple of days driving.
I'm hoping to get the 16" RXII's back on the car shortly and get the suspension lowered by another 25mm on the front, maybe 10-15mm on the back. I'm also going to change the exhaust system too because its far too big and I dont want it putting off any potential buyers when the car goes up for sale.
Lookout for a new progress thread in the MK5 section very soon because my dad is buying a 6N2 1.4 TDI this week
I will be insured on the car too so expect to see some modifications on that bad boy, nothing OTT just a few little bits to make it look a little fresher. I'll get some pics posted up when it arrives later this week
Has anybody got any feedback from these?

With me driving the car a re-map/chip tune is essential despite what the old man says, just wanted to know how people rate the plug & play tuning devices, i'm not keen on getting the car re-mapped permanently just it would be cool having the option to switch back to the standard settings.

Those boxes are absolute crap. They cause engine management problems and a load more - avoid like the plague
If you want it mapped, get it done properly.

If not i'll have to take it to somewhere like Jabbasport, P-Torque or awesome GTI etc

More of a economy map rather than just pure performance

I have spoken to a lot of people regarding remaps and they have all come back to me saying the only way to do it properly is to solder a chip directly into the ECU

That's what I would prefer to do in all honesty but with it being my Dad's car I dont think he would be too keen on the idea.neilGTI wrote:I have spoken to a lot of people regarding remaps and they have all come back to me saying the only way to do it properly is to solder a chip directly into the ECU
Alex has recommended the Revo plug & play tuning box but i'm not too sure what to go for.
The bluefin chip tuning devices are pretty popular and give good results too.

Couple of Pics of the car from the weekend
Location - Llyn Aled, Denbigh Moors in North Wales
Not the best of pics but the weather was nice so I thought I would make the most of it

I want to get the RXII's back on next now the weather is getting better.
The exhaust will be changed in the next couple of weeks too for a powerflow system with hidden tail pipe

Re: Ben's Polo GTI - New Pics Page 20!
Looking good Ben
My only criticism would be that i personally think the plate should go back to OEM position with a bracket similar to what Tim used as it just looks funny in the grille, plus it does bugger all to help with airflow on the radiator!

Cheers Alex
Yeah I would be better off running it in the OEM position, I like the way it looks now but the airflow is an issue, sometimes the fan comes on when stuck in traffic etc. I think I may have to make a trip to B&Q and follow Tim's bracket guide.
