Finally found out what the noise was. 3 Mechanics and an MOT later found out the wheel bearing was damaging the Hub flange and causing the grinding noise. New wheel bearing and flange and noise is away thankfully!
Was strange though as was no play in the wheel bearing. Was only when it was all stripped down it was noticed. Passed its MOT before even knew what the noise was.

you beat me to it!!!
I have the same response from my mechanic yesterday. I will get mine changed tomorrow and hopefully it will cure it too.
How much did you pay? And, was it both sides?

Aye it solved it for me man thankfully! I put it into Volkswagen and got it done but my girlfriend works for them so got it at staff price and trade price parts and it still was £148
Would of done it myself but its about one of the only things i cant do as i dont have a press to press the bearing in and out. Hope it sorts yours aswell man.

hmmm, after changing my drivers wheel bearing my grinding noise is still there. Don't want to pay £££ to change the passenger side if it does sweet F/A to fix the noise
How would the wheel bearing damage the hub flange?
