Headlight Protective Plastic Film

After getting the new headlights I really wanted to try and keep them stone chip free
so i got some Paint protective film. its mainly used to put over the front bumper and bonnet to stop paint getting stone chipped.
Its like a Phone screen protectors

Being that we've pretty much made it out of winter now (well the recent weather seems that way) thought I'd do a little update on how the paint protective film has done on my headlights.
Tbh I'm Really happy
I tried to get a photo to show you guys but my iPhone camera photos are shocking when I put them in my computer.
Plus there really isn't any difference from the above photos.
Whilst my bumper and bonnet has taken a good few more stone chips over the last few months, my headlights still look perfect :) The plastic has given fantastic protection and is still nicely stuck to the headlights. No peeling, or misshaping, discolouration, or anything you may expect from sticky plastic.
I attually couldn't recomend this stuff enough :D

Yeah its worth losing the Octopus feed, its very easy to remove. Get yourself a metre of flexi ducting (70mm diameter) and run if from the wing directly to the BMC :) it should amplify the induction note even more.

Thank you! It came out nicely and still looks the same even a week later which is nice.
So many products fade by the next day, or wash off

The golfs a beaut, I long for the day I can afford one lol

It was once apon a time like that, but I don't think it was the same ducting stuff. I remember being outside at like 11.30 holding a torch whilst he repaired a hole, the original bit went back on (and some bits out of a mates shed) A little by later as a temp fix. But never bothered to change it (I still have to do the boot build he never finished lol) He completly lost all motivation with the car :(
I was told it doesn't do any damage to the engine having it that way so I've never bothered to sort it out, and in time just got used to it being that way.
There's a few bits I want to replace in the engine bay (antifreeze bottle, engine cover, engine blanket, so on) so I'll have to remember to do it then :)
...Tho
it should amplify the induction note even more
is a very appealing thought.

09.04.2010 - Serviced

Image

Serviced the GTI this weekend

• Oil
• Oil Filter
• Sump Plug
• Fuel Filter
• Spark Plugs
• Thermostat
• Temp Sensor
• Antifreeze

And just for the fun of it...

• Antifreeze Bottle

The G40 had a Black antifreeze bottle lid, which i think looked a lot better then the blue one, I was going to swop the lids over, but never got around to it :( I think Lupos have black lids so I'll just have to get one if those when I get round to tidying up the rest of the bay.

I dont think the blue and black lid are interchangeable. VW changed the thread size between years and colours

Could just paint it to save some money :)

I bet the GTI feels much better after a good service, got mine going in next wednesday for a big service 8)

Have you got the part number for the Fuel filter by any chance?

Dammit! It makes sence they would do diff colours on different lids. I couldn't pick up on a reason as to why some Lupos had black and some blue.I guess it must between the different years of them

I'm not to keen on painted plastics if I'm honest, never looks as good as factory coloured.
The GTI feels masses better! He's a lot happier since the service :)

Nice! Bar an oil change mine had just before the MOT... mine hasn't had a really good service since ive owned it.

Really love the coolant bottle. Mine is in a similar state to your old one and have been wanting to replace it. Where did you get it from if you don't mind me asking?

Cheers :) I got it from VW was £20ish.
I think I paid £19 something so normally they are just over £20
I'll double check my print out tomoro when I'm home
Is a random £20 to spend as there was nothing wrong with the old one except how grim it looked. But i knew it would make a big difference looks wise, and make me happy lol.
