Lowering Springs 9N

Can anyone recommend a good website to purchase springs from?

I was looking to drop the suspension at least -35mm. Its a 9N, 2005 1.2 Polo. Was planning on getting 16'' for it.

Do you guys think this will be ok, 16'' with a -35mm drop? Cheers.

Would springs from a 1.8 GTI Polo fit my 1.2 9n? Their from a 2006-2008 GTI. Cheers

I found a set of Apex springs for sale on ebay, their -40mm which will do me mine! But your sure they will fit!

GTI springs are actually "only" 15mm lower. And anything more than a 35mm drop will kill the standard shocks.

Thanks Ash. So I would need new shocks also. Should I just get a new Shocks and Springs kit?

So even the extra 5mm would kill the shocks? Thought it was up to 50mm but I may have misheard :/

Are you sure you "need" to lower it any more than 35mm?

I know someone who lowered his car by about 50mm and snapped a driveshaft on a trackday. He raised it a bit afterwards and said it actually improved handling. Lowering only improves handling till a certain extent, and personally, I think the slammed look is stupid.

Regarding the extra 5mm, search on here for what I'm about to say...Eibach Pro Kit lowers by 35mm. So does H&R springs (well, that's what H&R say), but the H&R springs when installed, appear to lower the car slightly more than the Eibach kit (maybe 40/45mm vs 35mm). Most of the 9n3 GTI guys running H&Rs found that they're shocks started leaking a few months later. I've not heard this happening with the Eibach springs.

(Personal decision): I'll probably go for the Eibach springs eventually. I've actually not been bothered by my stock ride height that much and have been running mine like that for the last 3.5 years. I think 35mm is a good compromise between looks / handling / cost effectiveness. You won't scrape over speedbumps either.

Just thought I'd add that to the discussion. Hopefully those pics will help give you an idea of what -35mm and -15mm (irrelevant) look like.

My previous car was a MK2 Punto and I lowered it-35mm and it was ok on standard shocks. I dont wanna lower my new polo any more than -35mm. Even those -15mm gti springs would be ideal for me. I was planning on getting 15 or 16'' alloys, and just want to lower it slightly to improve looks really. Where would I get a hold on GTI -15mm springs from though?

Just be patient. Wait for someone with a stock GTI or TDI sport (same springs) who wants to get rid...
