Well after owning my 6N2 GTi for close to 4 years, I felt the need to upgrade to something a little more fuel efficient and comfortable.

I've taken a back seat on car modifying, as my work doesn't leave me with the time and money I used to be able to put into it. But I still love the scene, and found it only fitting for my next car to already have some tasteful editions to it.

Enter my 9N3 'GTD'. It's a 2005 1.4 TDi, with the interior and exterior cosmetics of a GTi.

I picked her up on Monday, and gave her a much needed wash, clay, polish and interior clean on Wednesday.

My plans are to keep things simple and OEM+, and maybe add to the GTi cosmetics a little.

Can't wait to put my own touches on it. First on the list will be the front VW emblem. I'm after a OEM one, so if somebody wants to swap for my current carbon fibre look wrapped one let me know! Or else I'll just peel it off.

The previous owner said it has, but when I asked for further info he wasn't even sure on the place it was done, so I'm guessing not. It also feels very similar to a standard one I test drove. I plan on getting it done after the summer when I return from travelling. which will be a nice little treat after driving it standard for so long!

Yeh it's just finding those few hours haha. It's takes a good day to do it properly. I'm going to stagger it over a few days I think over the next coming weeks!

I've got a massive service planned for it also. oil, brake fluid, fuel filter, clutch, cambelt, water pump!

Possibly, but I'm 90% sure it's not so don't wanna waste the money/effort finding out!

It'll be right and torquey when it's done... I'd say it's already got plenty of torque as it is

It has more as standard than the 6N2 GTI. When rolling, It'll pull away from one when remapped I reckon. Miles behind on stationary start though.

So, how do you find it to drive after coming from the 6n2 GTI? It's possible to check the boost using VAGCOM, but I've forgotten which block to measure...I'll let you know once I remember. If it's remapped, it should be putting out about 1.2 bar at around 2200 RPM.

Is it the 70 or 80bhp version? Nice colour too!

How does it feel coming form a 6N2? They're both great for different purposes.
My 6N2 had a lot of road feel, the suspension was hard, it had a short shifter, and the clutch was short. It was incredibly responsive in every manner (bar the brakes), and felt every part of the road.
The 9N3 seating position is higher, the suspension isn't as hard, it's slower, the clutch is longer and the gear throws also. you lose the responsive feel but gain a sense of relaxation I feel. I could drive it all day and be happy, but I was physically tired after a day in the 6N2.
