Re: Tim's GTD Thread
Maybe tomorrow man, shouldn't take longer than 5 minutes though as all my trim is already out!
We'll have to arrange a day to sort your stuff out man. Been saying we'll do the black suede in yours since I did my old car!

Re: Tim's GTD Thread BIG SORT OUT PG4
Been a busy boy this week!
Had the week off between work so have spent a lot of it sorting the car out.
All the pillars and roof are finished and back in. Just finishing off the last few coats of laquer on the grab handles. I ordered a black light surround and motion sensor trim, so it just leaves the sun visors which I'll buy soon.
I got some LED bulbs for the interior too, including the personal visor lights:

Tweeter grills sprayed prior to black suede:

Then came the big service. The following was carried out by myself and a mate of mine:
Oil change and filter
Fuel filter
Brake fluid
Cambelt and tensioner
Water pump
Clutch
Selector adjustment (it was sloppy)
Bits off the car during service:

Box off:

And with the car being at my mate's lock up, it was rude not to sort the paint out
I gave it a full correction detail
Workflow:
Snow foam
Wash
Clay
Machine Polish with Poorboy's SSR2
Poorboy's Black Hole Glaze
Collinite 476s Wax
Whilst I was detailing, I debadged the rear and sent the VW backing off to the sprayer to colour code. I also sent the B pillar for gloss black, as I couldn't get the black vinyl perfect.
I refrained from a proper photo shoot after the detail because I hadn't got the badge and pillars back. Picked them up yesterday though so will give it a clean tomorrow and get up some proper snaps!
Here's a few iPhone ones for now

Pillars and badge back (gone back on today)

Also got some LED sidelights in, and festoon and 501s for the interior. I got some H7s for fogs but they're the wrong size! doh.
During the service we found the bushes were knackered, so gunna get some Cupra ones fitted in a month when I change the front tyres.
Next on the list will be cubby lid, VW alu pedals, UK pressed plates, spraying the rear lights all red, and re-painting the calipers.
Car is definitely feeling my own now, really enjoying it!

Re: Tim's GTD Thread
I have a few questions for you Tim!
1. How did you get the door inserts out?
2. How did you get the rear badge off without scratching the car?
3. Could I potentially get you to do my interior grey parts in black like they are in your pics?
4. Where did you get hold of your car with the mods already to such a good quality? (Just a general question
)
5. Did you attempt your central console?

Re: Tim's GTD Thread
Thanks guys.
Modden9N.. (What's your name by the way? first name terms are better
)
1: do you mean the exterior B pillar trim? open the window and door, and on the window side just pull the seal out to reveal two screws, undo these and it slides off (put a cloth in the door because you will drop a screw down the hole!).
2: I used a hairdryer on the until you could feel movement on the badge. I then sandwiched a microfibre cloth between a flat head screwdriver and the body and and levered it ever so slightly. Due to the adhesive being heated up the badge pops off without brute force.
3: Which parts? The pillar trims? It honestly a bit of a job through love, I didn't enjoy doing it to my own car haha.
4: I got the car from a user on Edition38. The car was not good quality at the time, the previous owner was an exaggerator and a bit of an idiot. I chose the car because he had chosen the right mods, and I had room in my budget to set the car straight.
5: Yes the console is fully finished and fitted, has been for a while! wanted to get the black suede in before taking pics (I'll get some today!)

Which ones, the personal lights?Joz wrote:Would you be so kind and post how to install LEDs in interiour lights??
As far as I can see you'd have to remove the roof lining, as they sit tightly in metal frames which can only be removed from the otherside of the roof.

Oh no, I mean the other part you carbon wrapped apart from your vents in the pic!
Oh really was taking out the interior trim an absolute job and a half?
It looks so clean in the pics! Well to be honest I like the fact it is a 1.4tdi.... Mine is a 1.9tdi and although its a bit more nippy, It uses too much fuel (Its basically a detuned 2.0tdi) and so looking to get a pd130 turbo in it as well as a remap to give it more efficiency as well as more umpphhhh!!!
Get a pic of the console up!

Re: Tim's GTD Thread NEW PICS PG4
Pics as promised!
The gloss pillars make a huge difference to the lines of the car, flows a lot better IMO. Same with the rear badge.

Interior

Interior handles are nearly ready to go back in, just need to laquer. Also disconnected the rear wiper fluid at the tank whilst servicing, ready for de-wipering soon!
Comments welcome

Ah that bit, just use a flat head screw driver, and it comes out going towards the front of the car.
Taking it out isn't the problem, just getting the suede on a perfect is a ball ache. Mine was pretty much bang on, then a few creases have developed after fitting, ah well stills looks and feels amazing!
Yeh the 1.4 is a nice engine, I'll be tweaking it after summer. What kind of MPG do you get out of your 1.9 then? I was kind of gutted I didnt go for one haha.

Re: Tim's GTD Thread NEW PICS PG4
Nice pics! Waiting for summer to get some good pics up of mine! It does look good! Yeah my first car was a 1.4tdi 9N (my family loves the audi volkswagen group) and the engine was good and I never had to worry about filling her up but the 9n3 just drains me... Always 10 quid here, 10 quid there.... My sisters 2.0tdi A3 gets 53 to the gallon, my brothers 3.2 A3 quattro gets 45 and I am lucky if I get about 47-48.... New turbo and remap will sort that no problem! If I can get to 55 then I will be chuffed! It will do about 450 miles on one take if i am careful and doing motorways, etc, but then you always get some utter gismo in there 1.2 Corsa twinsport that just needs to be kicked to the curb when they are getting a bit too cocky with their evo sized exhaust! Looks good mate! Can't wait for mine to be up! Oh by the way, your gti side skirts arn't painted are they? Doesn't look like it from the pics! I wanna get a set : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-Polo-mk6-mk7-G ... 500wt_1156 , After the cup bumper is on!
