Nice one Joe,

Fuchs supply top quality fluids for cars, their engineering fluids are poor though.
They are one of our competitors in my work :D

I use Millers stuff in my Opel track car

Engine is 10W/60 Full synth
Gearbox is Auto transmision fluid (don't ask why it's an Opel thing)
Diff is 75w/140 LSD Oil

I blew an engine after 3 months using Vauxhall/Opel oil - I haven't blown one using Millers in 5 years

Obviously Vauxhall/Opel oil I used was designed and recommended for the engine I was running but I'll stick with what I know will give max protection

I used Fuchs 75w90 from GSF last year. Will be redoing it now, just because the car has been sat on my driveway for nearly 8 months. Nothing wrong with OTT.

Alrightee! I realise this may be a "dead" thread but, went on Millers website and typed in my Reg no. They seem to recommend 75w80 :?: Not sure what that means, is it something to do with viscosity?

Nice one, i should have read on a little! the 75w80 seems to be more conventional, used for everyday applications. There isnt a massive list of benefits...

"■Ideal for manual transmissions that are designed for maximum fuel economy."

The 75w90 is for motorsport/highly modified vehicles, Huge list of benefits...

"■Exceptional cold flow properties for easier gear changes.
■Fast lubrication flow to component extremes on start up
■Very good oxidation resistance and superior thermal stability. Low friction/ low drag formulation to help reduce operating temperatures.
■High film strength for maximum component protection. Significantly reduces friction, temperature, wear and minimises power loss."

The "90" is twice the price, give or take, but sounds like it may be good for a box prone to failiure. Anyone used this stuff yet?
Is the difference between 80 and 90 liable to cause its own issues?
I read that additives in these oils can break down over time, causing sludgy build up, and less effective operation in extremes of temperature.
I suppose a competition oil would be changed frequently, thus negating above issues.
Sorry, getting waaay too involved now!  Its just that it would suck paying twice as much for something that lasts half as long!

Interesting details

All i would say is Vw spec is 75w90. I would stick to their recommendations personally and just choose synthetic instead :)

Cool! was on one there, sorry! , getting a bit paranoid, sometimes my gear change can feel a bit "sticky" plus slipping out of reverse. No noise though.

Linkage probably needs adjustment. That should clear it up
