That man was accomplishing what speed cameras are made for: getting motorists to slow down! :?

While I'm totally for speed cameras (especially in accident-prone areas, of course) that sentence was totally inconsistent with the principle behind speed limit enforcement, and just confirmed the cash-cow status of spped cameras and radars today...

On a separate note: what kind of warnings do you have in Britain for speed cameras? I mean, what kind of signs: vague things "speed cameras used in this area", "electronic speed control" painted on the road, or more specific warnings?

We have warning signs posted in areas where speed cameras are posted... I'm not sure though for mobile / handheld traps.

The signs have a picture of a camera and the words " Police Safety Cameras in Operation" and stuff like that.

Here's a parody:

They're becoming a joke in thre UK. They're everywhere and the number of real policemen in traffic vehicles is dwindling. This means more people are being stopped for petty speeding offences, while drugged up / drunk drivers in unsafe cars are getting away with it!

I'm all for speed reduction where neccessary, but seriously, these cameras and mobile units are everywhere.

whats basically happened, is hes stopped them from making their money, so they slapped him with a fine.... but the ban!!! that is way over the top, the guy hasnt done anything to do with driving bad, speeding etc etc ...

typical pigs.....

That really is revolting.. you cannot prosecute someone for making people slow down in a dangerous area.. I'm just getting pissed off now with the way that speed cameras are used as money raisers rather than safety aids, it's just a pathetic abuse of our road 'safety' laws..

Edit: ruthless, in the UK police have to have some form of speed camera warning sign within something like a mile of the speed trap. The thing is, what they do is erect thousands of speed camera signs that are never followed up by cameras so that motorists get complacent about them, and then out of the blue they'll stick an unmarked mobile camera up and start raking it in..
