Speedo Problems :?

Post by N3_OLP »

Last year around this time my speedo started being quite temperamental (when going along it would read the wrong speed and was particularly jolty). Anyway the problem seemed to fix itself and I haven’t had a single problem with it over the winter.

Now the weather seems to be warming up it has started playing up again. :?

Has anyone else had this problem or got any ideas of how to fix it or is this my polo just showing its unique side?

Cheers

Luke

Id suggest getting it scanned on VAGCOM/VCDS as it could be many things. Possibly the speed sender on the back of the gearbox for one.

I had a similar problem and it was the speed sensor on the gearbox that had failed:

It just unscrews from the box without any problems, you can then see if it is damaged or broken, there is also a white plastic spline that sits underneath where this sensor sits, that was also broken on mine.

Turns out it was the gearbox that broken it as that went about two weeks later :(

Hopefully its not the box on yours.
