I suppose if you just give it a rinse everyday it should be ok, just to ensure it doesnt settle on the paintwork

Exactly. Especially if you have had any respray work done (this paint is always much softer)

Yeah I noticed the paintwork was much softer when I had my bumpers smoothed, the paint seems to chip for fun.
