Time to sell my younger brothers MK4 GT TDI 150.

This is a genuine ARL engine, tuned by us to Stage 1 (182bhp/425NM)

Some details:

138k miles
MOT till 31st August 2011
4 months Tax
A lot of history (some gaps but the important stuff including recent timing belt is all there)
Metallic Red
Standard 16' BBS wheels, good quality branded tyres (plenty of tread all round)
Excellent standard cloth Recaro style interior
Usual extras including remote central locking, climate etc

Very recent full engine service including:

Oil and filter
Fuel Filter
Air Filter
Pollen Filter
Transmission oil
4 x Glow Plugs
Temp sensor
Timing Belt (belt and tensioners)
Water Pump


The car was bought by us early last year and needed some TLC. The car is also a damaged repair (I believe Cat D but would need verifying as we bought from a friend in the trade and got the VIC certificate with it).

Despite it being a damaged repair, it was a good solid car and just needed some TLC to bring it back to its former glory. The damage, from what we can tell was to the driver side - rear quarter area.

Probably every little thing that we could see needed repairing has now been done - stuff like broken window regulator clips, missing trim, missing bits and bobs etc. The bodywork was OK, but had marks on most panels so about 6 months ago we treated it to a full respray in its original colour.

We always wanted to keep the car totally OEM looking, with just some choice additions. We added a boot spoiler, double DIN touch screen satnav/DVD headunit, HID kit (4300k) and of course as an engine tuner - the obligatory Stage 1 Remap :cool:

As car enthusiasts we take quite a proactive approach with all our cars, and believe in proactively maintaining a car, rather than waiting for things to go wrong.

My brother has probably put over 20k miles on her since ownership, and its only ever run on Shell V Power Diesel. Just like me, he goes out of his way to find the stuff. It's had very regular oil changes, and we've always done the fuel filter on every other service. There are things that will need doing to make the car 100% perfect:

Slight knock on idle from the DMF. Truthfully speaking, when we got the car, it always did this and we planned on having it done.. but he's covered so many miles and it hasn't actually got any worse. But this is something any prospective buyer should budget for something that needs to be done at some point in the future (I wouldn't actually say near future).

A/C needs to be regassed.

There is sometimes a slight suspension knock from front n/s corner. It's been on the ramp twice and inspected and we just cannot locate the problem. We suspect it could be an ARB bush but it's not obvious and very intermittent so its going to be one of those that needs to get worse before it can be fixed.

Arm rest lid has broken hinges.

And from what I can see, and from what he tells me, that's it really.

I wouldn't go so far to say this is the best 150 in the country, but it's certainly a very good example. We have a lot tied up in it and it's been a labour of love in many ways.

There is a genuine reason for sale - my little bro is about to become a dad :) His wife has a Mini Cooper and between them one of them had to give up their 3 door car. He wants a VAG TDI v6 (an A4 most likely) so if anyone is interested in a PX and on the off chance you have a 2.5tdi V6 (I would prefer him to have an Avant for pushchairs etc) then feel free to try us out for px.

We know the 150's are a sought after, and we know what good ones fetch. We're not greedy and don't expect we'll get everything we have in it back, but it's not going to be sold for pennies either.

I'm sure I've missed lots of vital info, and if anyone has any questions please fire away. The pics don't really do it justice, it's a fantastic car and the power delivery simply astounding.

Our Stage 1 is a blended power and economy tune.
