A/C problem

Post by neilGTI »

I have an air conditioning problem on the polo, when you turn it on, you can see/feel/hear the revs drop down as if it was turning on, but no cold air comes out.

I have had it re-gassed and was told that the gas is being held in, but still no cold air coming out.

I think one of the parts has failed, be it either the compressor or condenser ???

I dont know much about air conditioning so any help would be appreciated

Funnily enough I had this problem awhile ago, went to get it re-gassed and they didnt know what was wrong with it. (Conflicting reports of people saying not a clue, or there's a leak) I go and change the drive belt as part of my OTT servicing, and it works fine afterwards. If you havent changed the drivebelt recently, its only a fiver :)

The auxilliary drive belt runs the Alternator, AC Compressor and the PAS pump

Try get a genuine one if you can as they are much better quality as they have a bonded fabric crossweave on the back which stops it wearing

I got mine from ECP, it was a continental belt, which isnt bad at all, but if you can get a genuine belt, then go ahead. They're only a couple quid more :)
