Auto-Dimming / Rain-sensor on the 6n2

Well, in the process of trying to put my rear view mirror back on, I smashed my windscreen. So I thought, well insurance can sort that out, and I can get me a windscreen with a rain-sensor and be able to do that mod. So.. I've looked at the thread over in the DIY section, and its really.. well lacking in instructions. I know he provides an off-site link to a mk4 golf pdf, but thats aimed at the american market and it brought up two types of mounts, and I just got confused. So what I'm looking for someone who's done this mod, to possible clear up some confusion and possibly(:)) write us out some instructions on what todo.

I think alex Perkins has mentioned it before but not sure if that was on his 6n2 GTI or on his ed30 golf maybe worth an ask might be the 6n2 as the ed30 surely is new enough to have that as an option from new.

Alex's 6N2 had an Auto dimming mirror as standard which he then upgraded to a black one with the rain sensor in the base.

Alex's 6n2 had an auto dimming mirror but it wasnt a standard fit

One of the previous owners had retrofitted it and done a pretty shoddy job with the wiring which i corrected, and then I had the opportunity to fit the rain sensor too so it was all loomed in to OE spec in the end.
