lowering springs

hi guys,

just bought some monty 2s and looking to lower my 9n3...its only a 1.2e so springs are as standard. im only looking to get springs because im going to sell the car soon so not looking for a huge spend. i'm probably looking to lower about 30mm and was wondering if i need to buy new shocks along with the springs (i read that lowering springs can damage your stock shocks - let me know if i've been misinformed)

Lowering springs can damage your shocks if they are too low, because they put too much stress on the shock. I would be surprised if 30mm was enough to damage the shocks though.

Yeah, at blaze says, at 30mm you are fine its more around the 50-55mm you really need shocks. As far as brands go eibach do a set of 30mm springs. H&R also make them...got them on my GTI with no issues at all.

does the ride comfort differ at all when changing to eibach springs blk polo? i am fitting mine at the weekend but a little concerned as roads round here are horrible!

Sorry Chris, I've got the H&R and really cant fault them, ride quality is barely different from standard if I am honest, and if you are on 16s or 17s it just brings the arch gap down perfectly. Had coilovers on my last polo but feel the springs were the best choice for me at the moment.

from what ive read the H&R are almost identical to the eibach's so that answers that. Will get them on at the weekend and see how it goes.

I had Eibach springs on my GTi before I went to coilovers, I could barely feel a difference in the ride and they looked identical to the standard GTi ones when fitted

I compared the sizes when I took them off, the fronts are shorter than the standard GTi springs as you would expect but the rears were pretty much an identical size

I got my Eibach springs from Demon Tweeks for £118, was the cheapest I could find when I got mine
