Damn you stupid gearbox selector shaft seal!!

Post by neilw »

I put a new one of these in at the weekend, only to find its still leaking!! I'll have to have a look and make sure its sat in there correctly.

The car somehow knows I'm preparing to sell it and is putting up a fight.

You need to ensure the shaft is clean and the housing it sits in is also clean or it will leak

Try and see if its leaking from the inner or outer wall aswell

Out of interest, how did you press it in

I've had the Polo 7 years now, so I fancy a change. The replacement will be a Z4 Coupe, got to save up abit for a depsoit and wait for the right one to come up.

Z4 is in an interesting choice

Friend of mine used to have one. Shredded tyres like nobodies business!

If you get one, it has to be the 2.8 or the 3.0 engine though or its no fun

I almost bought a 3.0 Z3 but the servicing cost was too high compared to that of VW so I stuck to what I know

It'll be the 3.0 265bhp engine, thats and the M 3.2 are the only engines they did in the Coupe. I've test driven one and like it a lot.

It'll cost a fair bit to run I've done my sums. Hopefully it'll be worth it.

Indeed. 0-60 in 5.7s limited to 155. Should be able to keep up with Caymans, 350z's Focus RS's ect

Aye i have too a very good engine. All i didnt like was the lack of tech compared to the golf (is it sad that things like auto wipers and digital air con swing me round lol!)

Nothing like the sound of an NA engine made by BMW

Ensure it has all the M options, though the sports suspension is somewhat firm! The better interior etc is a must though

I occasionally drive my mums 2.8 Z3 right fun little bit of kit, once I get over the pain of smacking my head on the roof when ever I get in it (I'm quite tall) it's foot down time !. But the petrol consumption is crazy !. It goes down quick than premature ejaculators !.

They do an SE and a Sport. I want the Sport with the M bits and M seats.

Theres a beauty for sale at the mo up Norfolk way. Shame I've not got the desposit money just yet. No bothered about Sat Nav, this ones got the upgraded audio, Cruise, folding mirrors ect

I always wondered as my mums gear know has the m sport logo and it's got full leather bolstered heated seats and a few other bits I thought were a bit luxury that mean she most likely has the sport ?.

Not sure about the z3, but the z4 SE has flatter seats and no M-Sport logs anywhere, I think they have 17" wheels aswell instead of 18"'s on the sport

Not sure what the markets like at the moment. Its done 98000miles now buts in pretty good condition, and its got the leather, and afew extras, TT pedals Powerflex bushes ect, the wheels are perfect. I'm going to put the standard suspension back on, as I'm not happy with one of the coilovers, it needs some work on it.

I'll probably advertise it at £2600 and see where we go from there.
