hi there, just recently changed my sidelight bulbs to led ones and now ive got the light warning on my dash.
looked it up and it says "defective exterior bulb".
now ive checked every light and all seems well, the only thing that doesnt seem to work is the constant full beam, both lights work when you use the flash option but doesn't work when pushed forward to steady. any ideas how to fix this?
thanks and does anyone recommend some good headlight bulbs?
Andrew

Re: Bulbs problem
Did you buy CANBUS friendly LEDs? If you didnt, this is why you have the error
Re: Bulbs problem
You need some of these pal. They work a treat and are covered with a 2 year warrenty
which is always a bonus
Re: Bulbs problem
As mentioned above, you need the canbus LED's, however I think Edi30, had a problem even with canbus ones, so yeah its a trial and error
i bought a set from halfords, didnt work.
Tried a set from crazyleds and they worked a treat, no problem, and were nice and cheap too, so try them on there

Re: Bulbs problem
Yup had problems with Canbus and non Canbus sidelight LEDs so I would go with a set recommended on various threads. Ref headlight bulbs I use Osram Nightbreakers which are H7 Xenon upgrades which cost about £25 a pair and are significantly better than STD bulbs eg 90% brighter. Not as good as HIDs but are easier to fit and are cheaper.
Re: Bulbs problem
Sorry just realised i never copied the website address in my last post. I have these exact ones in my gti and they work a treat. Real nice and bright compared to most led sidelights http://www.hids4u.co.uk/501-can-bus-sup ... bulbs.html
Re: Bulbs problem
In order to change the main beam and sidelight bulbs do you need to remove the headlight? Checked the manual and it says so but this seems like a massive pain in the rear just to change a bulb!
Re: Bulbs problem
You can change them easy enough without removing the headlight. However, removing the headlight will make it even easier, and its only a 2 minute joby to take the headlight out.
