Re: Verity's Reflex Silver GTI - new wheels and tyres

Post by Verity »

Got in my car this morning and noticed my VIN Number sticker looked all disformed. I got out the car to get a better look tobfind it had all bubbled up :/

Image

Something else that needs doing now boo
(that's if I can get one :S)

In other news, my wheels are coming along nicely, talking a lot longer then I'd hoped but the rain and a busy few weekends has slowed me down

Image

I think I have fallen in love with the seats from the 9n3 polo gti lol.... I wonder if they fit the 6n2 ;)

And Went to DC11 over the weekend, a few amazing cars!! (and some which were Supreme Epic Fails!! )
I got to see a certain green mkV golf which I have loved since the moment I saw it in it's first mag feature. So that made
my day.

Gti Inters next weekend, hopefully see some of you there :D

My VIN Number sticker has done this too! It's really annoying! If you can get hold of a new one, let me know as I'd be interested in getting a replacement!

Any seats will fit if you have the patience and skills.

Mine took 18 hours to fabricate new subframes for the seats I have in now, so worth it though

how did you even go about doing that? i wouldnt even know where to start! id just stand there scratching my head, looking at the bottom of the seat, and the space where it should go lol
ahh im only good with Fabrics, anything to do with metal, wood, ect and its a big no no haha.
the only thing i really like about the seats in the tartan fabric, im probably better off stripping the material off those seats and making them fit my original seats lol

Jack came home today with some chrome trimmed presents for the Golf.
A load of different switches. He went to fit the window switches on his drivers side, and foun the unit in his car is one piece, where as he had separate switches.....so I quickly nabbed em and jumped straight in my car haha

Image

First the looms are different - never fear, where there a will there's a way...and when you know someone good with electrics it helps.

Image

Unfortunately tho the switches just army quite the right size. Boo

Image

Pretty gutted as they look really nice :( but still... I'll keep and eye out for other ones that may fit :S

I thought that before i bought the seats, but when you sit in them, you can feel the difference in comfort levels. The new seats are 100x more comfortable.

I got a mate to do the work as he is trying to start up his own garage, he only charged me £50 to get the new frames made up. I felt so sorry for him after it took 18 hours to do that i gave him another £30

Are they too small for the gap ?

They look like they are so close to fitting

It hard to explain. It like the switch sits slightly to forward so theres a slight gap around the edges, then when you try to push the button down it can't quite do it cos the underside of the switch pushes on the switch surround....if that makes sense.
If jack hasn't taken the switch back to VW I might try giving it another go. I spent last night trying to work out how to mod it to fit. Im just worried about ruining the switch surround as I only brought it a few months back, and I don't to want to damage one of those switches and have to pay for something that's broken lol

how much are the switches ???

My surround is broken, it has a corner missing off it so i wouldnt mind cutting mine slightly if it meant they fit in

Neil- Jack got then for £11 but normally they are £12.58(+vat)
Part number 3C8959855XSH

Thought I'd give fitting the switch another go.
I made a mistake in what I said above, pushing down works fine, it's the going up that wouldn't work.

As you can see the switches are completely different.

Image

Taking the tops off and swapping them over is completely out of the question as they are not what so ever alike.

But after a bit of head scratching, I worked out what I thought the problem was.
So I thought screw it it's worth ago, and whipped the Dremel out. And..... I got them to fit :D

Image

......just gotta get the wiring working now 8) ......Oh and sort out the passenger side, that switch is completely and utterly different.....so that'll be fun  ....kindda wish id never seen those damn buttons haha

Those switches look great. Can't wait to see them fitted. When you finally get them in you'll have to do a DIY Guide :)
