New polo help

Hi forum

got myself a new polo yesterday and got to say i love it.

only my second ever car after my first car was a disgraceful rover 25 which i had nothing but problems with including a head gasket go on me.

managed to get rid of the rover and get myself a polo....hopefully ill have a lot more luck with the polo

anyway i wanted to ask the forum a few questions which hopefully someone could help me with as im not really clued up when it comes to cars (pretty obvious really as anyone whos clued up clued up would never buy a rover i guess)

first question is on the dash pod cluster the black LED square thing where warning icons come up such as fuel low etc is there supposed to be a symbol for for when i open the door on it when the engine is on? reason im asking is i read through the manual and i saw that icon however when i open the door no symbol comes up.... this is for either drivers side or passenger side doors.

second question is i also noticed in the manual it showing a warning symbol for if the boot is open when the enging is on... however like the door when i tried it no symbol come up???

third question is i noticed when i open the drivers side door the interior light doesnt come on however when i do the same for the passenger side door the interior light does come on... any ideas what could be wrong?

last question is on my mums audi the car makes a beeping sound if i leave the lights on or indicators on when i turn the engine off.... does the polo have this function?

maybe for question 1 and 2 these features arent on my model of polo??

I have a 2003 plate polo 1.2 twist 39,000 miles.

i had that many faults with my previous car that after buying this polo i want everything right. i also had someone look at the car yesterday and apparently he said has the car been involved in a crash as he said the panel on one side of the car was different colour silver than the other panel and you can tell by feeling it or something as the paint wasnt smooth. to me silver is silver and i cant even tell... not like it is obvious to me but i guess to experienced mechanics you can tell easier. he said it may not have been in a crash and may have just had a few scratches or a dent however absolutely gutted bout that.

if indeed there are a few problems with my car should i go back to the garage and ask him about them.... i did get a 12 month warrenty with the car however my mechanic friend told me thay are not worth the paper they are printed on.

i really want to keep the polo and like i said i love it and i also got a great deal on my rover when i part exchanged it. hopefully im worrying about nothing.

Hi mate,

I drive a 2003 "52" plate Polo 1.2 E. Mine shows a symbol when the doors are open. There is a senson button that pushes in when door is closed and pops out when you open it, check this on the drivers door it may need replacing in order for the light to come on when you open the drivers door. And yes, if you leave your lights on in my car and remove the key then open the door, it sounds a constant.

Any other questions fire away people are very helpful on this forum, there are some SERIOUSLY clued up guys and girls on here.

gonna go and take it to the dealer tomoro... should i expect him to fix these things and put them right free of charge.

if i quiz him about the paint job and it comes out that it had been involved in a bump should i ask or expect any money back from the purchase of the car as i bought it in good faith that it was perfect
