New Car

Post by jamiekelly »

Hi guys,
I'm 17 and just bought a 1.4 16v 9N with only 9,000 miles on the clock from my local VW dealer.

I'm looking to mod but my insurance will only accept cosmetic changes so I was thinking of a full Vortex kit and i really want to tint the back windows (3dr) yet I haven't found any yet that are road legal, was wondering if anyone could link me.

I also want to add a Momo gear knob but I'm not sure what the thread size is on the gear stick so if anyone knows I'd be very grateful
Any other suggestions would be much appreciated..

Many thanks,
Jamie

Get some pictures up! I'm amazed you can get 9ns with that low mileage, you picked up a good spec one too so resale will be very good. Can I ask how much it set you back?

I haven't collected it yet mate but I will put pictures up when I get it home.

Its 1.4 16v twist and I managed to get it for £4200 at 9,000 miles,

Best start saving up to pay mum and dad back haha

Same as below except I have the 3door

Good price considering the mileage and condition, it will treat you well! :D

If you're interested in modifications, you should look at this thread which has a few nice and simple OEM (Vw manufactured so you know they're good) mods to get you started.

Hi mate,

Great choice of car, 9k on the clock is incredible seems to me like you got yourself and absolute bargain! I drive a 3door 9n too, and like you my insurance will accept cosmetic changes no worries but anything else and it will sky rocket. I had my windows professionally tinted at MEDIUM TINT (you can get light, medium, dark, limo). The Light & Medium are both road legal, unsure about the dark but the limo tint is not legal. By law you cannot have your front windows or windscreen tinted now (other than the VERY slight blue tint a manufacturer will put on during production). Not sure where you're based but I got mine done at South Coast Tints in Southampton, they did a great job for around £110 if I recall.

Have a look at my thread, my car started off very similar to yours, I've since changed the wheels and done the tints, amonst a few other things. Hope this helps! http://www.uk-polos.net/view ... =8&t=50882

Cheers mate,

Yeah i'm very lucky to get the car at the price id did!
Im based in Norfolk but i think there is a local comapny who do window tints so now i know what's legal and whats not so cheers for that.
Checked out your car and it's looking very tidy indeed, the rear window tints make such a difference!
As soon as i start the mods i will put some pictures up, just need to find a set of alloys, im thinking bbs but they're quite pricey. I have 14" standard alloys on at the moment but they look far too small, have you got any idea what size i can go up to before i start to rub on full lock? 16"?

Many thanks

Was wondering if anyone could help me out, I’m looking to put these in the footwells of my car to go with the blue dash but I have no idea what I need to do and how to do it, if I link a circuit up to the battery do I need a fuse ? So yeah I’m a complete electrical novice, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Jamie
