DRIVERS DOOR WINDOW ONLY GOES DOWN HALF WAY?

HEY GUYS

JUST GOT A LOVELY 2000 6N2 GTI
PHOTO'S COMIN SOON

THE DRIVERS DOOR WINDOW GOES DOWN BUT STOPS HALF WAY AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHY...
ALSO, WHEN USING THE SWITCH FROM THE DRIVERS DOOR TO PUT DOWN THE PASSENGERS WINDOW IT DOESNT WORK?

ANYONE GOT ANY IDEAS?

The exact same thing happened to my other halfs lupo, we couldnt work it out, then one day it started working again on its own accord.

Would love to know why it happened in the first place, so will be watching this thread for other comments

I know, its really annoying

Ill probably have to buy a new switch or something

I had to replace a switch on the drivers side due to water damage where the rain had come in through the window and damaged it:

9times out of 10 its the earth wire in the door where the wires go from the cabin to the door

I had that as well, totally forgot that had happened, the brown wire had snapped in the rubber that goes from the door into the car

Ive checked the wires going from the door to the cabin but they all seem in nice order.
They've been shrink sleaved and are tidy.
