Fuel Consumption
Fuel Consumption
Hi guys,
I have had my polo for nearly 3/4 of a year now and it is averaging around 35/37 mpg. I am just wondering if this was normal for a 1.2 55bhp polo? It just seems a bit poor as I have never got more than 400 miles out of a tank

Re: Fuel Consumption
Same here be lucky to get 250
On a serious note though.. around town iw ouldnt expect much more of a 1.2, stop start traffic kills little engines as they need the revs to move... but on a run should be getting more than that.

Re: Fuel Consumption
Have been tracking the MPG for my 55 1.4 and it was always 37mpg,until I started driving like my grandad, ie. 65 on motorways and now I'm up to 47mpg

Re: Fuel Consumption
I got 63 mpg out of my GTi once. No joke. Motorway speeds but certainly wasn't hypermiling or taking extra care with the throttle.
For the first hundred miles, I thought the fuel gauge had broken to be honest. It barely moved off full.

No, I don't get anywhere close to that on a daily basis.

That's a diesel engine.. :O The work of the devil.. -_-
Fuel Consumption
I had my gti custom mapped about 2 months ago. Got it rolling roaded at 215bhp and I get 37mpg.
Thought it was maybe my 4Bar FPR screwing up my mpg read outs but I've done the maths and it adds up.

Still winning at petrol though
Ali123: what kind of miles do you do? Town driving mostly? I used to get around 30 at best on my 1.4 in town so sounds about right if that's what you're doing?
Re: Fuel Consumption
Hehe, damn them indeed!
I was actually considering a BlueMotion 2010 mod over my 2007 Gti.
Now I laugh HARD at that thought. I will rather sacrifice some petrol for my own joy.
