Specification Check Plz

Post by Squeaks »

Just been and looked at a POLO GTi yesterday and wanted to confirm a few specs for a 2000 X reg. The car had red seat belts, red lead covers and the questionably stylish 1 on the seats.

1. Do the POLO GTi's come with standard rubber pedals or should these have been alloy?

2. Did a 2000 X come with a 6 disc CD player as standard or was this only on later models?

3. Inside the owners manual there was a German stamp, Could this car be an import?

Any input would be greatly appreciated?

From what ive heard mate, the Polo GTI wasnt for sale in the UK, all polo Gti's have come across from europe at one point in their life.

Am i right peeps or is my info wrong?

I have an X plate though mate, from Denmark.

I have the rubber pedals, a single CD head unit also i didnt get rear speakers with mine !! They also left out the boot light haha wierd !

And also i havent got the Xenons, ive got the standard HID lights from the 1.4 16V.

People might say that ive missed out.

but youd all cry if you knew how much i paid for it.

:)

Importing yourself is the nadz !!!

Mine is 2000 X reg

Silver, red seat belts, red door cards, 1 on the seats, rubber pedals, climate control, 6 disc changer in boot, and a sunroof (which was fitted as an option I believe)

My 2000-W Polo GTi is a UK car - I think Cal, yours is the exception as its from Denmark?

As for the spec, I dunno about the german stamp in the handbook, I'd have a look but that means getting up and going out to the car park again  but I have got the '1's on the seats and the red lead covers, although black seatbelts for me! Also rubber pedals (swapping them for TT items isn't too difficult I believe, and not massively expensive either!!) and a 6-CD changer in the boot with a 'Gamma' headunit up front. Is this making sense so far..?

The dealer told me that mine was an early-spec car and as such I haven't got leather seats and stuff like that. When I got my car there was a second on the forecourt which was a similar 2000-W, also black, also 3-door, but this one had leather seats and climate control, whereas mine is fitted with a/c and a sunroof...

So I guess theres a few almost 'mix-n-match' specs out there in conclusion...

HTH! :)

Not sure if mine's a uk car or an import (frankly don't care as insurance is no different)

Mine's missing the skirts, the red doorcard inserts, traction control (spoils the fun anyway) , the aircon (makes it slower anyway) and the extra rear speakers.. God that's a long list

If it helps, as far as I was concerned, I thought it was only called the gti in gb and northern ireland (where mine is probably from), and it was called something completelydifferent in germany and denmark, which is where some came with the less bright lights..

Leather (or the seats with the large red section in the middle like josh's) and red seatbelts were definately an option, as was the traction control and some even got esp (stability control not extra sensory perception)...

Air-con and the 6 speaker system was standard apart from some of the early x reg's like mine. I was talking to a friend who works in an ex vw garage and now a specialist vw instead, and he was of the opinion that the early gti's were based aroung the 1.4, so some came out with some wierd specs... don't know how much truth there is in it but it would explain a lot...

I have a 2000 X-Reg silver 3-door.

it has red door inserts, 1 on the seats, sunroof, climate control, xenons, 6 disc changer, black seat belts, rubber pedals and leather steering wheel + gear lever and gater.

I believe mine is imported from Ireland.

Mines had a couple of owners so 6 disc changer could have been added.

If your unsure about the car, get it HPI checked. If everythings hunky dory, BUY IT. There amazing cars.

Mine's a UK car...

2000 W Reg

Climatronic
Black Seatbelts
Black Caps on the Leads (although these have now been changed to all red items)
Number 1 on the Seats (Cloth, not leather)
Leather Steeringwheel, Gearknob and Handbrake
Red Card inserts
Rubber Pedals (they're all like this unless someone has swapped them for Audi TT or Lupo GTi items like I've done)
No Traction or EDL (cos they're crap anyway lol)

Probably been asked before but what's the"1" on the seats for?
Anyone got a piccy of the leather handbrke as you get a s**t plastic one on the loop and I'd like to see if the POlo gti one is likely to fit?

I think it's the german's idea of "cool" lmao.

Leather is only on the very end of the handbrake, just where you put your hand... It's not a gaiter like you could put on a MK4...
