Tricky thing is, I assumed the speed limit to be 40 or 50, as it was a DUAL CARRIAGE WAY. However, a dual carriageway on the outskirts of town, with STREETLIGHTS in the middle. Unfortuneately, that means the limit turns out to in fact be 30mph....ridicuous, but true. With a solid metal central reservation, no footpaths either side, and no housing(a few office buildings set well back from the road....30mph...pfff)
Two questions. Firstly, I live in Hampshire and the potential incident occurred on the outskirts of Southampton, does anybody know if they (Hamspshire Police) run the speed awareness courses instead of taking 3 points in my county?
Other thing is, assuming the worse case scenario that I hit the brakes too late and was clocked at the full 45 in a 30, does this mean its too fast for a speed awareness course, and secondly what is the likely amoutn of points and fine I am likely to be hit with? Does it depend on age etc....as I'm only 20
Cheers! Jamie
