Done searching for a used car...

Post by Babe RuthLess »

...my brother just lost his patience, walked into a Peugeot dealer today and bought new 206 instead of a larger used car.

It's a black 3-door 1.4 (75 bhp) with pretty much the same equipment as my Polo (now that there's no stereo in it).

The Pug has not even been delivered yet (that'll be Tuesday I think) and my bro's already hit eBay looking for an original stereo and a few mods to get started, like a 3-line display, temperature sensors etc. 'Course, we could've ordered the car with a stereo but that'd have cost £170 for a single-CD thingy when a brand-new one from someone who's pulled theirs out to make room for something fancier will cost £50-£60 (on eBay UK). So no contest here. I'm just not sure if this qualifies as a 'mod' (I think it doesn't unless he can find some rare, fancy 307 or 406 optional radio/CD).

My bro's also signed up with two local Peugeot forums (one for Peugeots in general and a 206 club or something) and he's asked me for help with some e-mails that he needs to send in French...

As for my Polo, I have refused once again to take it after I found two or three dings on the bodywork that definitely weren't there when I left the car at the dealer. In fact, my car did NOT have any dings at all. Now there one on the bonnet, one on the left side and one on rear door. Real nice.

So I guess I'll be driving a Peugeot for the next few days! (not sure if that's good or bad, no-one in the family has ever had a Pug before)

Cheers,

Glad he's found something nice to drive...

Not glad at all that VW are STILL messing you about.

I bet you're getting well angry about it

Hehehehe

Well, all the money's been spent on the car! :)

Besides he bought the 206 for little more than the used Focus he'd been looking at. True, the Focus had a 2-litre 16V engine, traction control, full factory-fitted leather, 6-disc in-dash CD changer and a lot of other goodies that the 206 doesn't even dream of having...

As for VW, I've already lost my patience with them and will take the matter to their regional office on Monday. I'm not sure if VW will help - they'll probably say it's Carbel's problem, not theirs, since the car is not under warranty anymore.

Still, I need to vent my anger at someone
