just took mk3 saloon to have wheels tracked and after 10mins in pit the guy says its out 2 degrees but he can't track it as the polo's only have an adjuster on one side and its out on the other.
is this right as he seems a gormless f*** anyway and he told me i had to take it to dealers!
Update...Ihave been to 3 garages now who all say they can't track the car as it can only be adjusted from one side and they can't straighten the steering wheel so i have to take it to the dealers.
you guys must get yours done without lining the dealers pockets
cheers

can they explain that in a little more detail?
sounds a bit like the explanation i had that one side was seized... except the place i went was an AA service centre recco'd by a mate, and they just kept it an extra day to un-seize it. tracking was fine afterwards - the joy of a "straight" steering wheel!

they say that the track rod end? (im no mechanic) can only be adjusted from one end as the other doesn't have an adjuster on.
and they say u need some special equipment to track it.
not just the tracking equipment every other car in the world uses.
im confused to say the least.
and my bloo*y steering wheel is lopsided cos of the tracking and doing my head in.

They can adjust the steering wheel in a matter of seconds.. or they could just do it and not straighten the steering wheel, and you can do it in a matter of seconds if it comes to it...
If you want to do the steering wheel yourself, line the wheels up so they're straight, prise the centre cap off with a screwdriver, undo the nut in the middle, take off the steering wheel, put it back on straight and do everything up again.

if it comes down to it i will take steering wheel off myself but i can't find a garage who will track the car.
they say polo's only have an adjuster on one side and they dont know how to adjust the tracking right on them.
is there anyone near rotherham that can tell me where i can take it without the hassle.
i'm sure u have to be dumb to work in a garage in rotherham.

not much help but wot they told u is true, mk3 polos can only b adjusted from 1 side. (mite get this mixed up?! (the passengers side is not adjustable & costs about £5 4 a new 1 where as the drivers side 1 is adjustable & costs over £40 [this is on Right hand drive cars, opposite for LHD.])
Dont no if how you wood adjust the other side tho......
