9n Gear Knob refiting problem!

Do you not have the little gold clip?
If you dont have one of them, I guarantee thats your issue.

I'm not too sure about the previous reply. I'm guessing that you are trying to fit non9N Polo gear knob to a 9N Polo gear stick, if that is the case, then maybe confirm this by checking the profile of the car's gear stick, and then compare the mating part on both the new and original gear knob - that should let you know what is wrong.

With referance to the "gold clip" I'm guessing that the previous poster is refering to the locking clip that compresses the lower end of the gear knob and locks it to the gear stick.
