Front lambda sensor wiring help..
Front lambda sensor wiring help..
Right folks, bit of a funny one, have read a few posts about ham fisted mechanics ruining the connectors wiring to the lambda sensor on the front of the exhaust. Checked mine and it has been bodged right up.. I'm after the loom end of the connector, so I can solder it in properly as mine is beyond repair.. Any idea where I can get one?

Re: Front lambda sensor wiring help..
I hope they ordered you the gold plated connectors!
Re: Front lambda sensor wiring help..
I think the connector itself was only 3.40, but I wanted fresh wiring for the loom, they are giving me plenty of wire/conduit, and shrink wrap/amalgamation tape for that much money
initially I thought, wow, this must be the deluxe connector I'm getting, but Its not

Re: Front lambda sensor wiring help..
By connectors I mean the tips on the ends of the wires - the yellow repair wires must have gold plated tips if they are for lambda wiring as they need to have perfect connectivity. One of the few things that does need them!
Be sure to connect it only to shiny copper as those wires have a habit of oxidising and the copper inside will go black for a good few inches a lot of the time.

Re: Front lambda sensor wiring help..
I'm with you now.. Thought you were on about the cost.. Lol
yeah they are gold tipped connector ends, I checked that
I plan on taking the wiring back quite far as someone made a proper hash of it!! 2 of the wires going onto the back of the connector had been severed at some point.. Looks like someone bastardised a couple of safety pins, loosely soldered the wiring to them, and pushed it through the silicone that seals the wires into the housing!!! No wonder it keeps throwing me the front sensor code!! Hopefully have vagcom running on my laptop soon, as this constant diagnostics isn't cheap.. Especially when it's the same..

Good
Mine was much the same - was completely brutalised
Be sure to use heat proof crimps such as the ones that are heat shrinkable with adhesive in them, as its gets incredibly hot down there!!
