Currently running my 6n2 with no 5th gear! box is whining like a B**** and a recon is a must! car has done 122k so im surprised it lasted this long! now the problem.....
Im working to a budget and was hoping to get one supplied and fitted for less than £450 either in and around or up north in lancashire. Can anyone make any recommendations and to be cheeky would be nice to get a clutch in too!
Also - what does it ACTUALLY mean to get a recon box? Is this always uprated as to get rid of the common faults and poor design or not??

This probably isn’t what you want to hear but if you do it cheap you generally do it twice
Have you got access to any other cars at the moment?
Have a look on google for Gearbox specialists in your area and give some of them a call, any gearbox company will be familiar with the Polo gearbox issues because its common with all the MK4 & MK5 Polo's (not just the GTI's)
You’re probably going to have to pay a minimum of £500 for a recon with clutch & fitting.
I paid £495 for my recon box and £110 for a Sach Clutch ....that didn’t include labour costs because I got it fitted at my local garage rather than where the gearbox was purchased from. 1st Gear Transmissions in Kent will supply you with a fitted Recon Box & Clutch for £595.00 + VAT but they are based in Kent.
