Brake light switch mate I had this problem. They're £8 ish fromthe dealers and worth paying out for since they have improved the design. It's an easy one to do si ce you just unplug the switch and twist to remove then pop the new one in and adjust to the pedal.

Basically mate it's a dead man switch. When you press the pedal the switch is released and the lights are put on. The fact you have no lights indicates to me the switch is gone so needs replacing. It's like a plunger that has locking positions if you google it there's loads of guides bur basically for install you need to depress the pedal fully lock the switch in place then release the pedal and it will adjust the switch itself I think. Don't quote me it's either that or you release the pedal then lock the switch in. Like I said google it and it'll say. It really is an easy 5 minute job to do even if you have no experience which I can see you do.

Im telling you, mine brings out some weird errors now and then. They just disappear when I treat it well. (*cough* V-Power *cough*) That, and a wash every week. This one's a higher maintenance than the damn missus.
