Endi_GTI wrote:Exhaust looks good dude. I need to get mine done soon. Would you mind telling me where you got it done?
thank you :D
i got it done at a local(ish) place called A44 they are down the road from all the main dealers, so they get a lot of work from there, and its how jack knows they do good work. Its a family run business and each member has their own garage, one of which specialises in exhausts and such.

That's a big list but i'm sure if you get most of that done it will look awesome :)

Be nice to see how you get on with the rocker cover, something I always wanted to put right on my GTI but never got round to actually doing it.

Wow big list. But a good day and about £100 would clear a large percentage of it.

Will be perfect when its completed though :)

Ive brought all the main expensive bits, tyres and suspension, and the clucth in the next few days. thats all costing just over a grand.
so im hoping all the other little bits wont cost to much *fingers crossed* tho it adds up sooo darn quick!

haha no carbon bonnet. I fear the boyfriend would feel im copying him as hes current carbon fibreing the Golf lol

Its been something ive been desprite to do for ages cose mine looks soooo soooo bad!
im in two minds of what to do tho.

the cheaper option would be to nitromorse it and paint it myself - thing is i have a big fear of nitromorse and cant actually see me willing going near the stuff.
or i could get one of the techs to take the rocker cover off for me, get Jack to give it to a powder coater he friends with for me, and pay for the powder coating.
--which whilst the car is off the road for winter would be the perfect time to do it.

lol i know jack wants it all done in a day so he can get it out the way lol.
i think im taking the car to VW and leaving it there for a few days and let the chaps do work on it when they can (i think itll mainly get done on a saturday tho)

interior stuff like taking the dash apart and sorting the door cards will all get done in a few hours. i think i can do chunks at a time, without overloading the day with stuff

hopefully perfect ;) lol
i actually cant wait for it all to be done :D

Taking the cover off would also be hard work because you will have to remove the camshafts :(

Your best bet is painting it whilst its on the engine, remove any parts that are in the way to give you more space and get cracking.
Its probably best to rub it down rather than strip it with Nitromors, harder work but it wont be as messy and you will get better results too

I know :( the rocker cover is a complete b*gger, I'd get one of the VW techs to take it off, and put it back on. The good thing is a lot of them have the tools to do it outside of work so I can at least have my car at home or at jacks whilst the part getting powder coated. For me that's the easier option as I could just sit back and watch and wait ;) .... but it's slightly more costlier. (what ever it costs for powder coating V some nitro morse and some heat resistant paint)
- I don't mind a bit of elbow grease of course! Put in the time and it's defiantly worth it. I just really hate nitromorse lol and I can't see me getting all the old paint off without using it (there's some Halfords paint over too which is a bit of a b*tch to get off) :(

02.11.2011 - New Mk5 Golf Grill Badge

One of the first things Jack did when he orginally brought the polo was to put a Rear Red Anniversary Badge on

Image

Ive always really liked the font style of the newer badges, but I also really like the red in the 'I'
but have fallen more and more in love with the newer badges after seeing so many of you guys putting them on.

So I finally ended up buying one

Image

Image

Image

I also brought a new Rear Red Badge, its only a cheap copy. But all I wanted was the 'I' to stick onto the new badge

Image

However, they are different sizes. Its somethin that did pop into my head when I was buying them, but thought 'nahhh theyve got to be the same size' - boy was I wrong!

Image

One eBay there are some red grill badges, but by the looks of them the manufactor has stuck the rear badge letters on some plastic and made a universal clip to attach it to any grill. so they still arnt going to be the correct size. :(

So for now the completly silver badge is on. which im pretty happy with :)

The Golf is off a Revo for a few weeks at the moment. Took it down yesterday (after having to get the rear window fixed, thanks to some prat putting a brick thru it Halloween night  ) Revo are using the Edition 30 as a guinea pig to develop new software!! which is rather exciting and means - my polo should get all the attention in the next 2 weeks. so hopefully we should find time to get a lots of work done :D
